Post enough shared memory configured?
Hey,

I'm new here, beause I try to run my Wave-p CCTV card with your system. After some fighting I get my card running 8)
But only on 320x240...
I tried several saa card settings but nothing.
Then I found in the FAQs that there must be enough shared memory.

My linux skills are not the best, but everything I could see the shared momory in you new LiveCD is big enough, or isn't it?

My card is a 9404 Ver. 2.2 Gold colored

The new ZMLarch with Zoneminder 1.24.1 is compiled with the mapped memory option, so does't use shared memory.

Like I said, I'm not a freak in Linux. But I can read FAQ's *g*
So I checked the 'shmall' & 'shmmax' and both of them are 134217728
like the FAQ discribe it

Could you please help me. Need I shared memory for 640x480 or must it running with mapped memory. And how can i set it up?

I would like to learn alittle more about mapped memory myself. I have built all my DVD's without the option and had better luck. I would of course like it to be more automated, sounds like mapped memory would help with that. I've taken the same exact camera and can get 640x480 on the shared memory system and just a black screen on the mapped memory system.

I tried both shared and mapped during the prerelease period and found no difference in features or performance. So I went with the mapped memory and compiled the packages to use it. If someone wants to use shared memory they can grab the source pkg from the site that hosts ZMLarch, edit the PKGBUILB and recompile.

newvisionantenna the demo server you set up works well with ZMLarch using mapped memory at 640x480

The demo server was still running Kubuntu and Shared memory. I was never able to get a container built with Arch Linux. Maybe I'm forgetting something or misunderstanding you but I've tried mapped memory and found it easier to use Shared Memory.

Maybe it's time I built another DVD with mapped memory on and get some people to test it. I would love for everything to just work and no need to figure out shared settings and such. I'll try your cd in one of the boxes I have here and see how your mapped memory works.

Sorry, I meant to say your demo camera. Set up as a source on ZMLarch it works fine. ZMLarch uses mapped memory.

That's what I thought you meant but wasn't sure. Hmm, wonder why so many people have problem's with mapped memory. In theory it sounds like it would be great. I hope to release a new DVD by this weekend or the beginning of next week, maybe I'll intergrate mapped memory.

I think the built in mesh system might interest you. I had to do some changes but my solution will work just fine for running a security camera only system. Running the hotspot and security camera system works but it's still lacking a GUI to simplify it for the end user.
