Post failed upgrade from 1.22.3 to 1.23.3 attempt, other troubles
I'm a linux newb -- but I've done a lot of googling and reading before asking for help. Here goes.

Confident after successfully installing the 1.22.3 livecd, I tried to follow the upgrade from RPM instructions located here: http://www.zoneminder.com/wiki/index.ph ... _RPM_notes

I downloaded everything I could RPM wise from here http://www.isentrix.com/pub/zoneminder/rpms/mdv_2007/

and put the files ... anywhere (cause there is no guidance on that point)

Ross says there are a few new required packages, but does not name them all ... says " The rest can be filled in by urpmi from configured sources" ... no clue what that means. Does it mean urpmi will sort out what dependent RPMS will be needed? Anyhow I proceeded to download the new zm rpm and then do "sudo urpmi zm-1.23.3-1mdv2007.0.i586.rpm"

It fails, saying

Code:
Some requested packages cannot be installed:
zm-1.23.3-1mdv2007.0.i586 (due to unsatisfied perl(Module::Load))

I said yes to, continue installing anyway ... prolly a bad idea.

Blundering along I click on the few of the RPMS I downloaded, then decide, that 1.22.3 is working dam well enough and stop this upgrade insanity.

Trouble is, now when I run "sudo service zm start" I get this jazz

Code:
Upgrade ZoneMinder database: Update agent starting at 08/06/24 23:41:59

Initiating database upgrade to version 1.22.3

Upgrading database to version 1.22.3
Can't find upgrade from version '1.23.3' at /usr/lib/zm/bin/zmupdate.pl line 653.
                                                                [FAILED]

I figured out how to start the program by using"sudo /usr/lib/zm/bin/zmpkg.pl start" but i fear I loused things up ... any insights as to how restore things so the start script works again?

here's the contents of my /etc/zm.conf

Code:
# Current version of ZoneMinder
ZM_VERSION=1.22.3

# Path to build directory, used mostly for finding DB upgrade scripts
ZM_PATH_BUILD=/home/ross/rpm/BUILD/zm-1.22.3
ZM_PATH_UPDATE=/usr/lib/zm/upgrade

# Build time, used to record when to trigger various checks
ZM_TIME_BUILD=1171504144

# Path to ZoneMinder binaries
ZM_PATH_BIN=/usr/lib/zm/bin

# Path to ZoneMinder libraries (none at present, for future use)
ZM_PATH_LIB=/usr/lib/zm/lib

# Path to ZoneMinder configuration (this file only at present)
ZM_PATH_CONF=/etc

# Path to ZoneMinder web files
ZM_PATH_WEB=/var/www/html/zm

# Path to ZoneMinder cgi files
ZM_PATH_CGI=/var/www/cgi-bin

# Username and group that web daemon (httpd/apache) runs as
ZM_WEB_USER=apache
ZM_WEB_GROUP=apache

# ZoneMinder database hostname or ip address
ZM_DB_HOST=localhost

# ZoneMinder database name
ZM_DB_NAME=zm

# ZoneMinder database user
ZM_DB_USER=zmuser

# ZoneMinder database password
ZM_DB_PASS=zmpass

Thanks!

OK thanks for hanging in there and asking for help.

First get the perl-Module-Load package and install it. Download it from one of the links here:
http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3/stat/4/ ... h.rpm.html

Then run this command:
sudo /usr/lib/zm/bin/zminit

You wil be presented with a choice of how to proceed. Entering "D" will drop the existing database and reinitialize it.

Then I think you will be all up to date and good to go. If not please come bace and tell us what problems you run into.
