Post 2 weird problems after install
Hi,

after a seem-to successful installation - and equipped with a LabTec Webcam Pro I've got following problems
(BTW: not too experienced with a 'nix right now - and the forum search didn't brought clear enough matches):

1. Zoneminder works from browser, but ... zmu ... zmfix ... call of any component is redeemed with "No such file / directory". Where best to search for the fault?

2. If using it nonethless - for purpose of setting up the preferences - about 3/4 of the picture is geting lost after 5 minutes or so. Sometimes only black, some times like misstuned (modern art ;-). Same effect takes place at xawtv! (Maybe hardware to old? But WebCam works fine on M$.)

Hardware for test-setup is a IBM A22m, above mentioned Webcam. Software only the installed version of the LiveCD plus all 5 avaible bugfixes and the dkms(sp?)-Spca5xx... from repository.

Zoneminder binaries are in /usr/lib/zm/bin/ which is not in the $PATH for either a normal user or root. So you would need to use the full path like this:
# /usr/lib/zm/bin/zmu

The other issues you are experiencing are most likely related to your webcam. It may work properly if you can find the correct resolution & palette. Output from /var/log/syslog may give a clue, but unless someone who has used this camera cam help, you will just have to experiment with the settings. Google may help you find specifics of what modes your camera supports.

Actually, that varies from distro to distro. My Ubuntu 8.0.4 (zm compiled from source) has them in /usr/local/bin. If you can't locate them, try
Code:
sudo find / -name zmu
and make sure that path is in your $PATH.
