I am in the process of upgrading my zoneminder install and have set up a new system with Ubuntu 12.04 Server.
I have installed Zoneminder 1.25.0 and everything except my capture card is not working. I have a Hauppage ImpactVCB card.
The OS recognises it but there seems to be an issue capturing any video from zoneminder. My settings are:
Source Type: local Device Path : /dev/video0 Capture Method: Video For Linux version 1 Device Channel: 1 Device Format: NTSC Capture Palette: RGB24
When I use these I get the following errors in zoneminder:
2012-08-16 07:48:06.110860 zmdc 1973 ERR 'zmc -d /dev/video0' exited abnormally, exit status 255 zmdc.pl null 2012-08-16 07:48:06.107267 zmc_dvideo0 2742 FAT Failed to get picture attributes: Inappropriate ioctl for device zm_local_camera.cpp 540
Not really sure what is going on. The OS detects the card and I have even added a /etc/modprobe.d/bttv.conf.
HELP!!!!

Re: hauppage ImpactVCB not working with Ubuntu 12.04
Ok, figured it out.
Settings for Ubuntu 12.04 and Zoneminder 1.25.0 are
Source Type: local Device Path : /dev/video0 Capture Method: Video For Linux version 2 Device Channel: 0 Device Format: NTSC Capture Palette: BGR24
make sure your Hauppage is recognized by your OS first. If all is well this will work. Make sure to set the zoneminder option in Config panel LOCAL_BGR_INVERT to checked.
