 cheap camera
In your opinion, what is the cheapest camera which works with zone minder?

ZoneMinder can use any camera supported by Linux's kernel. Of course for a video CCTV camera you need a capture card/device and webcams depend on the chipset used in the camera (The cards do to put the BT878A chip seems to be the most popular among the cheep board manufactures).

Your best bet would be to look to see what people have posted as working. Webcams seem to be hit and miss as it depends of the chipsets that is in them.
