Post cable lengths vs repeaters
apparently, "standard" cctv signal is 1volt peak-peak from the camera into 75ohm cable.

two quick questions:

1. is it critical to terminate each end of the cable, like in the old 110-ohm rg58au coax networking days?

2. what is the approximate upper practical limit on the cam cable before image quality suffers noticeably, or is this a case of cable/cam dependent? after all, i did notice monster cable sells video interconnect.....

yes need termnation
camera should already be terminated
monitors are selectable
I think the cards you get work out for themselves as i have never yet had to terminate externally

Guidelines for a high res colour signal running down rg59/u (note the /u std rg59 is 50Ohm) is about 250m

If you need to go longer use an RG11 or a CT125 cable
or amplify
or if really long you could convert to cat5 utp (good for about 4000m with active kit)
or fibre if your crossing counties

Hope that helps

James
